• BA (Hons) Humanities - Manchester Metropolitan University (1986)
• M.Ed in Technology & TESOL - Manchester University (1993)

Work history:

I have worked as a teacher and teacher educator in a number of countries including: Greece, China, Thailand and Japan. I have been at Hong Kong Polytechnic Universityfor two years having taught in the ELSC (English Language Study-Centre)prior to working in CILL.

Interests:

• independent Learning - material design, use of computer materials
• design of multimedia programs and support materials
• self-access systems
• use of authentic materials

Present research:

• evaluation of educational software
• student perspectives of independent learning
• developing computer support materials
